Personal & Spiritual - Toledo, OH
Dear Rabbi S. and the Tefillin Bank,
I feel compelled to share with you both a little about my week.
This past week, for the first time in my life, I put on my own pair of Tefillin. Not a pair belonging to my rabbi, not a pair that was left at Shul, not a pair that belongs to my father or one that belonged to his father or even his father before (the latter I actually have in my possession, though they are very old and no longer kosher). But, through your generous efforts, the efforts of Chabad as well as the efforts of the Tefillin Bank, a pair that are truly my own. Each morning since, I have slowly and methodically wrapped my arm and adorned my head with the Tefillin. I have chanted the accompanying prayers and the Shema and though brief, have found these few minutes of my day very spiritual.
I wanted to make sure you both know how truly grateful I am for this wonderful gift and how day by day I will try and continue to perform this wonderful mitzvah.
As always, I want to thank you both for all that you do for myself and my family as well as the entire Toledo Jewish Community.
Stuart B.,
